‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ Passes $400 Million at Domestic Box Office

However, despite the film’s success, The Rise of Skywalker trails The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in terms of box office sales.

Domestic figures have The Rise Of Skywalker currently behind the Last Jedi by about $40 million.

However, The Rise of Skywalker has had the benefit of two holiday weekends within its first 13 days (Christmas and New Years) while The Last Jedi only had Christmas in its first 13.

A billion-dollar worldwide run seems within reach for the ninth film in the Skywalker Saga (currently at $815M).

However, it seems like a fair bet that the final film in the saga will not pass The Force Awakens in terms of both domestic and global box office; it now remains to be seen if it has the legs to surpass The Last Jedi.
